spring academy "animals"

"perceiving the world the way animals do could one day change our view of our animal fellows forever," writes cognitive biologist angela stöger in her treatise on singing mice and squeaking elephants, voted "science book of the year" in 2021. the expert in bioacoustics and sound communication is not the only one who deals with "animal consciousness" and the resulting consequences for us humans. for some years now, a flood of books has been devoted to the intelligence, empathy, learning ability, pain sensitivity and "emotional balance" of animals and the ethical consequences of the latest findings in animal psychology research for us humans. keyword: animal rights instead of animal welfare.

in the almost unmanageable abundance of fauna-centred fiction and non-fiction (and everything in between), there is usually also a longing for a new foundation in the relationship between nature and its domination by the exploiter man, and above all the desire for a "humane" and "fair" interaction with the animal world.

in these areas of conflict between animal suffering and animal welfare, cruel industrial animal use and the idyll of "happy chickens" as well as animal becoming and human erosion, the sfd spring academy 2022 will also roam around. contained in these classes and exercises:

nell zink – "aesthetics of birds. 'who, if I wrote, would then hear me from the tit's orders'". a prose writing class with bird watching in the danube wetlands (weather depending):
