"but i am also the composer" – an evening for gert jonke (1946 – 2009)
with christoph w. bauer, oliver welter, clemens berger, evelyn steinthaler and fritz ostermayer
gert jonke, who died ten years ago and had a strong connection with the vienna poetry school, is primarily recognised by posterity as a dramatist and narrator. however, the poet gert jonke up until today leads a posthumous shadowy existence. that this is a shame has been deemed by the musical poet christoph w. bauer and the poetic musician oliver welter (mastermind of the band naked lunch) already in 2017 – and they took action. the result was the cd "gert jonke – poems" as homage to the author who remained distinctive also in his poetry (published by the gert jonke circle of friends).
during our tribute evening there will be also two former students of gert jonke at the vienna poetry school (classes of 1997 and 1999) who are now quite successful themselves in the literary realm: the writer, translator and publisher evelyn steinthaler and the writer clemens berger. they will read from their own works and talk to fritz ostermayer about their specific jonke experiences.
