builders of poetry worlds
the vienna poetry school
video conversations with christian ide hintze
a film by tina bara (sfd 2013, 68 min)

ide hintze on the history of the vienna poetry school, about eros, the street, sappho, embers, the coffee house, writing in the water, etc. anecdotes, amongst others, on allen ginsberg, christian loidl, henri chopin, h. c. artmann, blixa bargeld, falco, friederike mayröcker.

"stories 'tell themselves', anecdotes remind one of images, a cluster of ‘oral history’ and the ‘poetic act’, just the way h.c. artmann would have liked it. parts of the puzzle of an aesthetics of fragments accumulate in tina bara’s 'work on a portrait', forming a whole, which – precisely in its fragmentary nature – does justice to ide hintze’s (poet and initiator of the sfd) expanded notion of art and poetry." (fritz ostermayer)

loverman's verse
nick cave on the love song
documentary on pop poet nick cave teaching at the vienna poetry school
a film by daniel stamm and kilian von keyserlingk (1999, 35 minutes)

"i am giving up rock’n roll and becoming a professor.“
nick cave (at the presentation of his legendary class at the akademietheater)

in 1998, nick cave taught "the love song and how to write one". the video documentary shows not only excerpts from the class itself, but also from a "lecture" by cave as well as the class presentation at akademietheater. in addition to the "master" himself, two of his students, julia warner and ernst molden, have their say in detail.
