flash fiction contest 2019
for the second time, the european association of creative writing programmes (eacwp) organizes a flash fiction contest - for texts with not more than 100 words! participation in 12 different european languages. open for submissions from 1 february until 15 march 2019 (1 p.m. CET) - extended until 1 april 2019!
eacwp flash fiction contest 2019
after last year's success (appr. 1,900 texts submitted europe-wide), the flash fiction contest is back again!
this initiative aims to promote and encourage literary creation in europe, bringing european writers together in a joint competition.
what is it about?
the contest is open to any participant living in europe (and israel). participants must present a max. 100 words flash-fiction text.
the topic is "not at home".
texts can be submitted in 12 different languages: english, spanish, catalan, portuguese, french, german, dutch, danish, finnish, swedish, hebrew and norwegian
the final winner will be awarded a cash prize of € 600,- plus travel to and accomodation in brussels for two nights.
dates:
- webiste forms & text uploads from february, 1st (2019) at 13:00 pm (CET) until april, 1st (2019) at 13.00 (CET).
- the results of the first round will be published on www.eacwp.org, not later than april, 30, 2019.
- popular votes from april, 30 (2019) at 13:00 pm (CET) until may 30 (2019), at 13:00 pm (CET)
- the european winner will be announced on june, 30 (2019).
aims of the contest are:
- to encourage a european citizenship through cultural and literary interchange.
- to promote creative writing in the different european languages as a way to preserve our valuable linguistic histories.
- to foster talent within the field of creative writing in europe.

in 2018, the winner of the flash fiction contest was sivan shiknagy from ramat gan, israel with her text "kinetic energy". other places included:
