event CROSS THE ORDER

"cross the order - about imaginary geographies and nowhere places"

in times when each place is mapped and charted by google and other intelligent services, it is high time to newly programme "escapism": as a leap forward - as a conquest of places that cannot be found on a map, because they only exist in the minds and heads of poets, weirdos, cryptogeographs and other science lyricists. we are going to search for the real in the imaginary - and vice versa.

two festival evenings with:
alastair bonnet (gbr), philip dröge (ned), raphaela edelbauer (aut), ursula timea rossel (sui),
judith schalansky (ger), andreas spechtl (ger/aut), johannes ullmaier (ger),
class “idiocy & resistance”: judith nika pfeifer (aut) & jörg lukas matthaei (ger) and their students

two festival evenings on fri., 3 nov. and sat., 4 nov. 2017, starting at 6 p.m. each; free admission
venue: literaturhaus, zieglergasse 26a, 1070 vienna

**********
event in english:

fri., 3 nov., 6 p.m.: lecture/reading with alastair bonnet (uk)

alastair bonnet is professor of social geography at newcastle university (uk) and carries out research on topics such as "the idea of the west" or "the geographical theories of the european avant-garde". he became known to a wider audience through his – likewise bizarre and informative – book "unruly places: lost spaces, secret cities, and other inscrutable geographies" which seduces even the biggest couch-potatoes towards topophilia. the author thinks of his 'strange places' as "rebellious posts of imagination". how beautiful!
