exhibition opening & preliminary class presentation

parallel to their online class "café gerstl" augusta laar and judith nika pfeifer create a photo exhibition with poetic texts and corresponding paraphernalia: cafés from vienna to tucson, from the inside and outside, details and snapshots in a dialogue of poetry and photography. the texts move from the images, the images move towards the texts.

augusta laar

artist, lyricist, musician. exhibitions, projects and performances.
once student of nick cave's class at sfd: "the lovesong and how to write one" (1998). together with ernst molden she taught the legendary "brothel"-class "orpheus in eurydike – poetry and singing from the half- and other world" (sfd in association with wiener festwochen 2006). numerous cooperations with sfd, amongst others during the "schamrock"-festival of women poets founded by augusta laar (since 2012). in 2016, she represented sfd in medellín at the 20th anniversary of the escuela internacional de poesía with a class titled "see me - hear me. city street life poetry" (together with kalle laar)

judith nika pfeifer

*1975. writer, perfomance and language artist, engages in subversive practices, sense in senselessness/sin in sinlessness, applied idiocy resarch, pleasure-for-all-(simulations)concepts. publishes poetry, prose, scenic and radio texts. transmedia art projects and cooperations in vienna, berlin, edinburgh, montreal, rome.
reinhard-priessnitz-prize 2012, artist residency of the cities of munich and paliano (ita).
judith nika pfeifer once took part in the legendary "brothel"-class by augusta laar & ernst molden and since then has been involved in a number of artistic projects of the vienna poetry school. 2017 she held the class "idiocy & resistance" (together with jörg-lukas matthaei).
