vulgar volumes and the beauty of maths

poetry in motion

“vulgar volumes” of neo-liberal financial managament were the starting point of sfd’s web-project “inconceivable number poetry” (http://sfd.at/zahlenpoesie, in german). a selection of the poems that were created has been visualized by students at fh joanneum: abstract, figurative, funny, wicked, as this disgusting subject deserves.

introductory talk with thomas edlinger (author, curator, radio broadcaster and lecturer of the project at fh joanneum), orhan kipcak (media designer/fh joanneum) and fritz ostermayer (vienna poetry school).

the students were supported during the creation of their concepts by the animation film makers markus hornoff and patrick sturm (eat my dear), both also teach at fh joanneum.

ekaterina eremenko graduated with distinction in mathematics at lomonossow-university in moscow and studied film directing at the moscow state institute of cinematography s.a. gerasimov. she is the author of four internationally awarded films which have been broadcast by networks such as bbc, arte and zdf.
