studium der theaterwissenschaft und elektroakustischen musik;
langjähriger musik- und kulturjournalist (der standard, profil, falter);
seit 1981 redakteur im orf ("musicbox", "kunstradio", "diagonal", "fm4-im sumpf").
als autor wildernd durch die reviere pataphysik, musiktheorie, satire, kitschaffine textproduktion etc.
als musiker zusammenarbeit und auftritte mit der scheitel, neigungsgruppe sex, gewalt und gute laune, john giorno, otomo yoshihide, sachiko m, noel akchote, red, jason forrest, franz hautzinger, christof kurzmann, pomassl, pulsinger&tunakan etc.
als medienkünstler zusammenarbeit mit bill fontana, clegg & goodman, jörg schlick, fritz grohs, medlar lucan, durian gray, paul renner, grissemann und stermann etc.
als kurator tätig für den steirischen herbst, festival der regionen, regionale und das transmitter festival.
gastlektor am fh-joanneum in graz und am institut für musikwissenschaft an der universität wien. weiters regisseur (schauspielhaus graz) und choreograph (tanzquartier wien und donaufestival krems). 2020 und 2021 für den kultursommer wien kurator für das literatur-programm.
seit 2012 ist fritz ostermayer künstlerischer leiter der schule für dichtung.

studied dramatics and electro-acoustic music. author, journalist, dj, musician, performer, media artist, for many years music and arts journalist. since 1981 radio editor & producer at the austrian broadcasting corporation (orf). amongst others, curator for the austrian “steirischer herbst” arts festival. of late also director (schauspielhaus graz) and choreographer (tanzquartier wien and donaufestival krems). guest lecturer at the institute for musicology at the university of vienna a. o.
since 2012 artistic director of the vienna poetry school – schule für dichtung
